Welcome to WEEK 2 of GIVE THANKS, our Thanksgiving SOAP study!
I hope you have been enjoying the daily Scriptures and simple activities that are designed to focus our minds and fill our hearts with gratitude this Thanksgiving season. I have especially enjoyed the daily activities in our Facebook group which have encouraged my heart during some challenges in my life. If there is one thing I can certainly be thankful for this season, it is this amazing group of sisters God has put into my life! I thank God for all of you! I am also praying that God reveals Himself in a special way to each of you through this Bible study.
Here are the assignments for WEEK 2, November 14-20, 2016
Instructions
- Always start with prayer. Pray that Holy Spirit will speak to your heart and help you grasp what the Scripture reveals about God and how we can apply it to our lives.
- Read the Scripture passages as many times as it takes to truly grasp its meaning. Read it aloud if needed as well. Meditate on its truths.
- Answer the questions or journal from the daily prompt.
- Write the verse(s) of the day and begin your SOAP journal entry.
- S stands for Scripture. I have provided a key verse from the Scripture passage to meditate on. Writing it out forces you to focus on it in a different way. For this step, you simply write out the verse(s) of the day.
- O stands for Observation. What are a some things you observed from the entire passage you read today? What was specifically written about God? What are some commands? What may have occurred in this passage. You are essentially paraphrasing main points from the Scripture.
- A stands for Application. How did this Scripture speak to you personally? What did you learn? Is there something you learned about God that is especially meaningful to you? Is there something you need to do in response to this passage?
- P stands for Prayer. Write out a prayer corresponding to this Scripture. This is such a powerful tool to learn how to express to God what is on your heart.
- Complete the Group Activities or the Assignment of the Day (These are very simple and usually fun!)
See here for an example of a SOAP entry.
